November 5-9: International Doctoral Seminar @Shanghai

The 13th International Doctoral Seminar (IDS) was held with institutes of traffic and transport of four universities: Tongji University (China), Nagoya University (Japan), Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany), and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (India). We discussed the research topics of all participants intensively, and had technical visits to the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Information Center, and Wujiaochang Plaza.


November 3-5: JSCE 56th Conference Iwate University

The 56th Conference on Infrastructure Planning and Management was held by Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) in Iwate University. From our laboratory, Mr. Kato (M2)and Researcher Dr. Zhang made presentations on their research progress and discussed with other participants. November 2: Special lecture by Prof.Dr.SIGUA

A special lecture by Prof. Dr. Ricardo D. SIGUA from the University of Philippines was held in Nagoya University. The title of lecture is “Planning for Sustainable Cities in Developing Countries” which introduced the cities in developing countries situation and the planning for sustainable cities

October 28: The 17th Nakamura Cup

The 17th Golf tournament cup "Nakamura cup" was held. We all, not only the students, staff but also alumni of our lab and their family enjoyed sports, eating and drinking. Thank you so much for attending this event.

September 28: Graduation Ceremony and Party (fall)

Graduation ceremony was held in Nagoya University. Four M2 students who are Mr. Arshi,Mr. Villegas and Ms. Zhao got their Master's degree, and Mr. Orhan (B4) got his Bachelor's degree. In the evening, we had a graduation party which was held by Internatinal Programs Office and a farewall party with our lab members. Congratulations!

September 27: 18th Road traffic congestion mitigation program in Chubu area

18th Road traffic congestion mitigation program in Chubu area was held in Chubu regional development bureau. Several road administrators gave presentations on traffic analysis data and the applications. Assist. Prof. Kakimoto also made a presentation on breakdown phenomena on highways.


September 17-23: 12th International Conference of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) SIG-C2 in Ho Chi Minh City

The 12th International Conference of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Prof. Nakamura, Mr. Akandwanaho (D1) and Mr. Villegas (M2) made presentations and exchanged research ideas with various participants from various countries. For the titles of their presentations, please refer to this page. In addition, the SIG-C2 meeting of World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) was also held. Prof. Nakamura and Mr. Arshi (M2) made presentations on their research progress and discussed with many professors in the World.

September 5: Mid-term Examination for M2 students (Spring)

Mid-term Examinations of Master Course student were held together with Prof.Kato's Laboratory. Mr.Ueda, Mr.Kato, Mr.Hori, Mr.Wanibe from our lab and other students made presentation and discussed their research plans and progress.


August 27-28: Summer trip to Gujo

All members went travelling around Gujo(Hirugano) in Gifu prefecture. We enjoyed the activity and BBQ, fireworks at Hirugano. We would like to express our great appriciation to all of those who supported this trip,Thank you.


August 9: Anzennoizumi Award of the 37th Conference of Japan Society of Traffic Engineers (JSTE)

The 37th Conference of Japan Society of Traffic Engineers was held at Surugadai-Campus, Nihon University in Tokyo. Mr. Arshi (M2) and Mr.Ishiyama (M1) made presentations on their researches. Titles of their presentations are listed in this page (in Japanese)

August 4: Joint Presentations (Summer)

As a semiannual event, joint mid-term presentations were held with Kato-lab and Iryo-lab. Twelve D1, M2 and B4 students presented and discussed about their research objectives, frameworks and current progress.

The final presentation of undergraduate student was held by G30 program, Nagoya University. Mr.Orhan (B4) from our lab made a presentation on his reaserch result.The title of his thesis is listed on this page.

July 6: Lecture by Dr.Nonaka (Highway Planning Inc.)

As a part of the course of “Project in Civil Engineering A”, Prof. Nakamura invited Dr. Nonaka, the Exective Managing Director in Highway Planning Inc. to give a lecture.

June 23~24: Joint Seminar @ Nagoya University

The Joint Seminar with University of Tokyo (TOMEI-STER) was held in our Laboratory. From our laboratory, D1, M2 and B4 students made presentations on their research progress and discussed with other participants.

March 13: Final Defence and Public Hearing of Doctoral Dissertations

Ms. Xin ZHANG (Research Fellow) and Mr. Nobuto KANBE presented their doctoral dissertations in a public hearing. Many guests from academia as well as practice in the field of road traffic and transportation and others kindly came and listened to their presentations. The 96th TRB Annual Meeting was held by Transportation Research Board, in Washington D.C., US. From our lab, Ms. Zhang (Research Fellow) made a poster presentation about the effective range of Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI). The title of her presentation is listed on this page.
